This proposal for the renewal of the pavilions of the Christmas Market in Budapest deals with light (the tool of highlighting) and combinatorics in an architectural scale in order to create an inviting system of urban objects that serves for various purposes.
The PTFE membrane serves for three purposes: (1) create a folded compositioin that is attractive in daytime, (2) create a lantern forest at night in winter time, (3) be a surface exposed to raylighting.
The accordion structure gives an alternative to the existing displeasing situation of the DIY wooden bungallows, providing a homogeneous base element that is able to change its size and shape between a minimum and a maximum value.
