At Brno Centre the sight of the Cathedral, the Castle and the railway as one simple composition play an overwhelming and character shaping role, as we can first see that on the 19th century print by E.Gurk and J.Sand. This silhouette and the area lying in front of it have yet unexploited potentials.
A key element in this process is nature that we consider not as an object but as a process. The organic development of this area from agricultural land to brownfields now will be reversed so that nature could first heal, then generate the future green character of Brno Centre.
Following a vision of living, compact neighbourhood providing a variety of housing and adjoining services the plan sets out a structural and functional framework for a living urban organism to gradually follow this DNA similarly as the other neighbourhoods adjoining Brno’s central core have developed through the centuries.
