One of the main electrical substations of Budapest stands in the central park of BudaPart, a new mixed-use development. The investor in the brief called for an elevation design that turns the visually unpleasant look of the building into a design object.
The design, that is currently under development, uses cca. 5000 pieces of porcelain and glass insulators that are used for high-voltage power transmission; a characteristic element that tells a story of the building itself.
Our goal is to create a new aesthetic value from an industrial object that is never considered as a design object. The elevation tells a story around the perimeter of the building, using patterns and ornamentations originated from nature.
